Q: How long do I have to wait to let my dogs out on the lawn after my lawn has been treated?
A: Our products are liquid and dry completely after thirty minutes, depending on the weather. On a bright and sunny day your lawn will dry in about ten minutes. On a cloudy or rainy day, it can take up to an hour for products to dry. Once the product has dried it is safe for kids and pets.
Q: How long should I wait to cut my grass after my lawn has been treated?
A: We recommend waiting 24 hours to mow your lawn.
Q: Why shouldn’t I get an aeration and overseeding in the spring?
A: We recommend having aeration and seeding only in the fall because in the spring time the necessary pre-emergent applied would prevent seed germination. The first treatment of the year is the most important treatment. The pre-emergent prevents the majority of hard to kill weeds (crabgrass) from germinating. Also, your grass would struggle to survive through the hot summer months.
Q: When should pre-emergent be applied?
A: Pre-emergent is most effective in early to mid-spring. The time frame depends on soil temperatures. Typically, a pre-emergent should be applied before soil temperatures reach above 55 degrees.
Q: How do I get rid of Dandelions?
A: A timely application of a mild herbicide will eliminate dandelions.
Q: At what setting should I be cutting my grass?
A: 3 ½ – 4 ½ inches is the recommended setting. The higher the setting, the deeper the root system will be, which allows better access to vital nutrients and water.
Summer
Q: Is it safe to treat the lawn with such high temperatures?
A: The products we use have little to no nitrogen. The risks of damaging the lawn during the summer months is very minimal. If the weather is unsuitable for your lawn to be treated, there will be no work scheduled on that day.
Q: Why do I still have weeds after two treatments?
A: Controlling weeds is a process. All weeds will not be removed overnight. Weeds are seasonal and there are different types at different times of the year. It takes 1-2 years on a typical property to eliminate most of the weeds. Weeds like wild violet, oxalis, and yellow nutsedge can require specialized treatments, but still require a longer process to control them.
Q: Should I be watering my lawn in the Summer?
A: Yes, the key to watering your lawn in the summer time is deep root feedings. Contrary to the fall months when aeration and seeding is taking place, your lawn should be watered at least 2-3 times a week for about 45 minutes per zone. The key to watering your lawn is infrequent deep root feedings, just like nature provides.
Fall
Q: Will ROUND 4 be effective if my lawn is covered with leaves?
A: Leaves have little to no effect on your lawn. Our liquid product is designed to reach the soil level. In the rare case that your lawn is totally covered in leaves, your highly trained technician will make a judgement call at your property to determine if the treatment will be effective.
Q: Do I even need a ROUND 4? Will it be effective this late in the year?
A: The Round 4 treatment is specifically designed to give the lawn the nutrients it needs to survive the winter and dormancy period. This treatment will also provide a healthy start to the spring season.
Core Aeration & Overseeding
Q: Is it too late in the season to get my aeration and seeding done? Will it even be effective?
A: No, it all depends on the weather and climate. The ideal time frame for grass to germinate is 2-4 weeks. If the grass has the chance to germinate before three hard frost’s it has a very good chance of surviving the winter.
Q: How long should I wait to cut my grass after Aeration and Seeding?
A: It would be ideal to wait two weeks or until the new seed has germinated, to mow. It is very important to avoid mowing when the lawn is wet or early in the morning when there is dew on the ground. Also, take your time and avoid spinning wheels to prevent damage to new seedlings.
Q: How often should I water after aeration and seeding?
A: The lawn should be watered daily for two weeks. Water once in the morning and again at night, if possible. Each watering should be for about 20 minutes, per zone. The idea is not to drown your lawn, but to keep the soil moist.
Q: I have bare Spots under my trees. How do I correct that?
A: There are multiple solutions for this issue. First, we will explain why you are having trouble growing grass under your trees. Grass needs at least six hours of full sunlight daily to grow. If your tree provides a lot of shade, growing grass in these areas may prove to be challenging. We would recommend having the tree’s canape taken up and having the tree pruned to allow light to filter through and reach the soil level. There may also be a lack of topsoil, which could be causing some issues. Our last suggestion would be to increase the size of your mulch ring, according to the size of the tree’s canape.
Q: How long should I wait to put down fertilizer after CA and OS.
A: We recommend waiting about 2-4 weeks after germination starts or after the lawn has been mowed twice.
General Questions
Q: Is a treatment still effective, if done in the rain?
A: Yes, all of our products are designed to reach the soil level, especially our fertilizer. The rain helps water in the products. In some cases, nature does some of the yardwork for you by watering in the products to help them reach the soil level.
Q: When do you come out for each treatment?
A: Each treatment is about 4-6 weeks apart. Our lawn treatments are applied in the spring, late spring, summer and fall.
Q: How long should it take to fertilize my property?
A: It takes about one minute per 1,000 square feet. Example.) a 14,000 square foot lawn should take anywhere from 15-20 minutes to complete.
Q: Why are these purple weeds not dying?
A: The weeds you are referring to are most likely wild violets. The solution to eliminating them is three-fold. First, there must be timely applications of herbicide in the early spring and the late fall months. These applications must be done before the plant produces a waxy coating that prevents herbicides from reaching the root systems. Second, it is necessary to create a barrier to prevent weeds from encroaching your lawn from wooded areas or neighboring properties. Third, we recommend aerating and seeding the lawn to promote healthy grass that will crowd out undesirable weeds. This process can take up to 3-5 years to completely eradicate the wild violet issue.
Q: I have brown spots on my lawn, are those dead patches?
A: Brown spots can be caused by various reasons. Extreme weather is the most common issue. Grass tends to go dormant during the hot summer months and during the cold winter. Another possible cause could be fungus during humid and wet conditions. The good thing about a fungus issue is it resolves itself as soon as the lawn dries out. Another possible cause could be culture. Mowing frequency or mowing length could cause major issues in the health of your grass. Your lawn shouldn’t be mowed wet and should be cut at a high setting, also avoid leaving lots of clippings behind. If at any point you think you are experiencing one of these issues, we can set up a service call to figure out the cause and solution.
Q: How long will it take to get rid of crabgrass?
A: Typically, it takes 1-2 years to get 90% of the crabgrass under control. After that time frame problem areas can be identified easily in your lawn (curb strips and driveway borders.) Again, the pre-emergent included in the Spring treatment is one of the main ways to keep the crabgrass under control.
Q: Why does Go Green Lawn Services only provide four treatments a year?
A: We do not feel it is necessary to be on your lawn more than needed. Less treatments are needed when the correct amount of products are applied at the right time. We don’t believe in overtreating lawns. Companies that over apply fertilizer contribute to issues in our water ways and algae blooms.
Q: Why is grub control included in every treatment?
A: A grub preventative is applied organically throughout the year to ensure the control of grub activity. At the right time, a grub additive is added to effectively control grubs during the height of grub activity.
Q: Why is a pH balance included in every treatment?
A: We include a pH treatment to adjust the pH of your soil naturally to the ideal level, allowing the healthiest grass to grow and survive. The idea of putting large amounts of lime on soil is the incorrect way to adjust your pH level. It can take up to five years for your soil to even process that amount of lime.
Q: Why is Go Green Lawn Services more expensive than some of its competitors?
A: Our program is all-inclusive. We don’t upsell you on services like pH balance and sub-surface insect control. We include them for free. We also use high quality products, which are more expensive than some of the synthetic products used by other companies. A: We leave a message on the account’s primary phone number two days before a service is scheduled. We also send a notification email one day before a service. If for some reason the scheduled day doesn’t work for you, please call the office as soon as possible so we can get your service rescheduled.
Q: How can I pay my bill?
A: We offer a variety of payment options. At any point you can create an account on our website and make payments, we also offer auto-pay, and a discount is provided if you choose the prepay option. You can also call the office at any time and make a payment over the phone.
Q: How will I know if a technician treated my property?
A: You will receive an after-service email with detailed notes within 12-24 hours of treatment. We also put a flag in your lawn with the time and date of visit.
Q: Will treating my lawn affect my vegetable garden?
A: Our highly trained technicians are trained to stay 2-5 feet away from all vegetable gardens and any other areas where there is no turf.

A: The products we use are liquid and dry typically within 30 minutes. We are not targeting any beneficial insects, animals, or wildlife.
